South Stoneham Workhouse West End Southampton (Moorgreen Hospital)

Dating back to the poor Laws South Stoneham Workhouse became Moorgreen Hospital today with the shift to modern care of older people Moorgreen Hospital is closed and boarded topped with razor wire, awaiting development. These pictures are a photo record of how the buildings are today (September 2014). Although dating back earlier the main building you can see today dates to 1884. Designed by William Henman, constructed in red brick with a slate roof at a cost of around £7,000.
