A short drive through the Black Mountains from our holiday cottage to Hay on Wye via  the majestic ruin of Llanthony Priory via tiny lanes {why do you always met the man in the small car who expects you and the car behind me to reverse a 3 ton camper van 300 yards over the brow of the hill so he can pass without a by your leave and when he has gone on pass you find under one and a half car lengths from where he  was a great big pull in, it was not repeatable my views on this other road user apologies to my passengers} From Hay on Wye over a old toll bridge on towards  King Arthur’s Stone a chambered burial structure. Which we could not find due to a missing sign post so a short map stop and a fiddle with the points of interest in our trusty Mr tom-tom our always ready sat nav put us back on the right track. The day started will some drizzle but the rain soon cleared and a sunny day took over. On the way back a stop at a farm shop turned out to be a Cider barn so cider replaced milk on the shopping list and the biggest chickens I had seen turn out to be rheas
