Passed through the NATO ring of steel around Newport to the wild’s of Monmouthshire

First time in many years of traveling to Wales on the M4 & M48 did we not get any road works contraflows or 50 mile hour speed limits. By the M48 bridges all had Police Guards on them as did the old Severn bridge. Had planed to visit the Transporter Bridge at Newport today but give the Police activity far outside Newport decided to leave the Transporter Bridge for another day after the NATO conference. So into Chepstow and round under the old Severn Bridge to the slip way for the old ferry, nice view point and photo stop After the viw point a military cemetery at the army training centre with many WW2 German and Italian graves. Brecon Mountain Centre for lunch before a Castle stop at Treetower Court and Castle. Although the garden’s past there best still very relaxing walking through the grape vines. Finally we took on supplies from a farm shop near Crickhowell before arrival at our holiday cottage at Cwmyoy near Abergavenny.
